Cultural Happenings: Clear Kayak Bioluminescence Tour

Florida is well known for it’s ocean attractions and interesting wildlife, leading us to host a unique cultural activity - a clear kayaking tour in the Atlantic Ocean to see dinoflagellate bioluminescence. Dinoflagellate are plankton that float the ocean’s surface and emit light through a natural chemical reaction, called bioluminescence. Our participants were lucky enough to have other wildlife sightings, spying manatees and alligators in the water.
