Cultural Happenings: NYC Marathon 2024

Each November, the New York City Marathon, winding through the 5 boroughs of Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan, hosts 55,000 runners representing diverse cultural backgrounds, 10,000 dedicated volunteers, and two million spectators cheering from the sidelines.

Stationed at Mile 20 and working alongside fellow BridgeUSA organizations, LifeTRAVELED exchange visitors were tasked with distributing refreshing libations and supportive cheers of encouragement. Each cup handed out and each cheer given was a small but meaningful contribution to the runners' journey towards the finish line. Following the race, the exchange visitors ensured a thorough clean-up, allowing the city to seamlessly transition back to its usual bustling self by morning. To all our exchange visitors who participated - your hard work, positive attitudes, and contagious enthusiasm made this volunteer experience truly special, and your act of service exemplified the spirit of community and responsibility that the marathon embodies.
