Celebrating American Holidays: Fourth of July

HISTORY

Did you know? Most members of the Congress did not sign the Declaration of Independence until August. Learn more about the history and celebration of the 4th of July with CrashCourse.

FESTIVE FOOD & DRINKS

Holidays offer the opportunity for your culinary creativity to be unleashed. Hawaiian Pizza is the great American debate. Weigh in by creating an appetizer version for your 4th of July feast. Americans are known for their love of deep-fried anything. Serve up pickles, cheese, and/or okra in true American style. Make healthy options fun with berry American flag kebabs and watermelon stars. Grilling is the main event - decorate burgers and hotdogs like American flags for a wow-factor. Kitchen isn't your comfort zone? With a few sprinkles and candy melts, you can elevate basic store-bought desserts. While enjoying your delicious masterpieces, spend the day sipping on these instagram-worthy mocktails.

FIREWORKS

Fireworks and sparklers are the most magical part of the 4th of July celebrations. We think it's best to leave the pyrotechnics to the professionals, but if you engage with your own firework display and sparkler fun, be sure to follow safety guidelines and state laws. If you cannot view in-person fireworks, many major city firework events are live-streamed.
