Diversity Matters At Camp
We all know that summer camps are a quintessential part of growing up. That’s why we’re here, isn’t it? The swimming lessons, bug juice, campfires, the friends, lessons, and memories are why American summer camps have been and continue to be a staple in our culture. As a child I went to summer camp for 11 years as a camper, and then another 7 years on staff. Some mornings I still wake up with the sound of the bugle ringing in my ears. There are so many aspects of camp that have helped me to grow as an individual, a leader, and an outdoor enthusiast. Spending my summers at camp shaped me into the person I am today, and the biggest influence at camp came from my counselors. I idolized my counselors. They were my role models and guides, who inspired me to take on the job myself.
Camp counselors are the boots on the ground who are going to turn a good summer camp experience into a great one for each and every camper. By diversifying your staff and hiring international counselors, you’ll give your campers the opportunity to learn about new cultures, gain insight from someone with specialized skills, and gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the world.
LifeTraveled recruits international exchange visitors from various countries across the world. Looking for staff from a certain part of the world? Not even sure where to start? LifeTraveled has a team of coordinators ready to assist you with all your staffing needs. Our team is dedicated to providing outstanding service for your camp’s unique needs. Your campers may learn the typical dance from Ghana, what people eat for breakfast in the Philippines, or a few words in French. You could create a whole new activity period just for learning about new cultures. What’s more is your campers will also be able to share with your international staff parts of American culture. Campers will learn what cultural exchange means, and how they can be a part of it.
By hiring international staff your campers will have the opportunity to learn new ways of doing things whether it be a new condiment to dip their French fries into, or a new knot tying technique at the climbing wall. Our applicants have many different types of specialized skills that will add to your program.
Hiring international staff will give your campers exposure to the diversity of the world and inspire them to explore it for themselves. Reading about Spain or Thailand in a textbook is one thing but having a conversation with someone who actually lives there is another! Your campers will have the opportunity to learn first-hand from someone who has taken the steps to become a world traveler themselves. The world is not getting any smaller. Hiring international staff will help our future generations become more inspired and motivated to become a part of the global network.
At LifeTraveled we believe in travel with a purpose. Our applicants are ready to give 110% so that your campers will have the best summer ever. As a camp, when you hire with a purpose and diversify your staff, you’ll bring your programs to a whole other level, and give your campers an unforgettable experience.
