International Education Week 2024
International Education Week is a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote the importance of international education exchanges - attracting global talent to participate in an exchange in the USA and encouraging Americans to embark on educational experiences abroad.
In honor of International Education Week, LifeTRAVELED hosted a cultural booth at Tildenville Elementary School’s multicultural night. Tildenville Elementary School is a public elementary school in Winter Garden, FL with a two way dual language magnet program, and they hosted a multi-cultural night to educate and bring awareness to the different cultures in their local community and beyond. Each class collaborated on a country-specific research project where they learned about the country’s government, language, flag, and more. The projects were presented at multicultural night to share the knowledge with their schoolmates. Additionally, families hosted tables representing their own culture, presenting food, music, native goods, and more.
LifeTRAVELED invited Gian Lopez, a culinary intern at Patina Space 220 in Orlando, Florida, to share her Filipino culture at the multicultural night. Our booth displayed information on the language, cultural attractions, cuisine, festivals of the Philippines, offered a Filipino mango-coconut treat, and invited the children to color drawings with Filipino words and facts. By introducing the vibrant Filipino culture to American children, Gian contributed to achieving the exchange visitor program’s goal of cross-cultural exchange. We hope that by exposing children to new cultures, we spark their curiosity to explore international opportunities once they're young adults.
