Cultural Happenings: December Events
December is an exciting time for our Summer Work and Travel department as winter season participants begin to arrive. We provide assistance with important aspects like bank appointments and social security information, but we like to make sure we add fun in there as well! This arrival season, we planned an American breakfast, beach day, and St. Augustine trip!
ST. AUGUSTINE TRIP - ORLANDO, FL
Every year, St. Augustine sparkles with millions of lights during the holiday season. Not only do they have an award-winning display, but St. Augustine also hold the title of oldest city in the United States! With a December arrival, we couldn't let our participants miss the experience of touring around St. Augustine while singing carols. This event was the perfect blend of holiday and history!
I love that we got to experience an authentic American Christmas, which Is my favorite time of the year. I loved the lights, the Christmas songs and how cheerful and friendly people were all around the city.

AMERICAN BREAKFAST - GREENSBORO, NC
During our recruitment trip in South America, many participants told us of their excitement to eat a traditional American breakfast. We arranged a group breakfast at Denny’s, one of America’s most well-known diners, and indulged in all the classics - sausage, eggs, gallons of maple syrup! Food is a cornerstone of any culture, and it’s a great starting point to discuss the similarities and differences between American culture and our participants’ cultures.
SMATHER’S BEACH - KEY WEST, FL
Key West is a slice of paradise with the sunshine, sand, and sea! Embracing the island lifestyle, we spent an afternoon soaking in the sunshine, playing in the sand, and cooling off in the sea.
